Centuries of inequality through slavery, segregation, and housing discrimination have compounded to structurally create a racial wealth gap that benefits White people and disadvantages people of color. In order to understand and dismantle the structures of racism, we must examine how institutional housing and banking policies created wealth opportunities for White people that still create a benefit today.
